school refusal
School Refusal refers to significant school absence that is underpinned by anxiety/emotional distress at the prospect of attending. It differs from truancy in that it is not associated with anti social behaviour. Entrenched school refusal behaviour can leave children, parents and schools feeling frustrated and powerless.
