PROF JOHN SWELLER


John Sweller is an Emeritus Professor who is best known for formulating cognitive load theory which uses our knowledge of evolutionary psychology and human cognitive architecture as a base for instructional design. The theory is one of the most highly cited educational psychology theories. John Sweller received a Ph.D. from the University of Adelaide’s Department of Psychology in 1972 and a B.A. (Hons.) from the same institution in 1969. He has authored over 180 academic publications and is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia. Professor Sweller consults with schools in Australia and around the world on the application of Cognitive Load Theory and instructional design.

Prof jack Naglieri

Jack A. Naglieri, PhD. is a Research Professor at the University of Virginia, Senior Research Scientist at the Devereux Center for Resilient Children, and Emeritus Professor of Psychology at George Mason University. With J.P. Das, he is well known for the PASS theory of intelligence and its application using the Cognitive Assessment System and Cognitive Assessment System-Second Edition.

Professor Nalgieri consults with school around the world, including Australia, on the application of PASS Theory and the CASS II assessment tool.

 Dr barbara oakley

Dr Oakley is an American Professor of Engineering at Oakland University and McMaster University whose online courses on learning are some of the most popular MOOC classes in the world. She is involved in multiple areas of research with a specific focus on learning sciences.

Dr Oakley co-created and taught Learning How To Learn: Powerful mental tools to help you master tough subjects, the world's most popular online course. It is available on Coursera.

She also wrote a book, A Mind For Numbers: How to Excel at Math and Science (Even If You Flunked Algebra). This is a standalone book, though it companions the ideas presented in the MOOC.

His book, “You and Your ADHD Child” (now in its 12th reprint) has become the practical handbook for Australian families and schools dealing with the everyday problems children with ADHD experience. He also co-authored the popular book "Coping With School".

Ian is a regular guest on “Mornings” on Channel 9 and was the Resident Psychologist on “Mornings with Kerri-Anne” for ten years. Ian is still making guest media appearances such as on 9 News, 7 News and ACA shows.

Mari Carmen Escribano

Mari Carmen Escribano has been working with children for over 25 years. Prior to starting Parks Clinic in 1990, she has worked in mental health, schools for children with additional needs, and in community health. Mari was a consultant to the Department of Education for the planning and development of support units for students with additional needs in mainstream schools. She was also a consultant to the Department of Home and Community Health for the development of an assessment kit for home modifications.Mari is a certified therapist in the evidence based Cognitive Orientation for daily Occupational Performance Approach (CO-OP). She has also had training in parent coaching, developing play skills, sensory differences, ADHD, ASD, DIR Floortime, Handwriting Without Tears, visual perception and working memory.
